Doppelganger Week

Doppelganger week has passed but I'm still feelin it! So I took a gander at MyHeritage.com's face recognition for celebrity matches...just for curiosity's sake (and boredom. and procrastination too).

Yes, I would love to look like Camilla Belle but I obviously do NOT. One thing I am thankful for: Lucy Liu didn't pop up on this collage.

Happy Family

Andrew and I woke up in the PM today after finally going to bed at 3:30 last night. I was pleasantly surprised by a phone call from June. She was on her way back home to Hollywood from Vegas and decided to drop by. We decided to go eat at a vegetarian restaurant called Happy Family in San Bernardino. I've eaten at a My Happy Family in Monterey Park and love it there..so I was in hopes that this one by our apartment would be similar.
This little guy greeted us from the windshield of my car! He was so tiny! Praying mantis season is fast approaching.

The Happy Family restaurant is oddly located off of Waterman, just south of the 10 freeway. It doesn't look like it's too welcoming of an area, but the inside of this place was so cute! We started our meal with some lettuce wraps that I think I want to eat every day for the rest of my life.
Mmmm!
I'm so excited that June is a vegetarian now! We also ordered the House Mushroom Chicken, Dry Sauteed Green Beans, Fried Bread Rolls and brown rice. I would have taken photos of all that food but I was waaayy too busy eating it all. It was delish!
Her fortune cookie.
The bill turned out to be $38. Not too bad for three people. The people there were so nice and super helpful with answering our questions about what to order..they even gave us free tea!
I heart the Bhongjan.

Ikea & X-Men Origins

Andrew and I met with Jen to run some wedding errands (and to do some shopping for ourselves...but don't tell Andrew we premeditated that part of our day). The first stop...IKEA! The favorite amongst favorably priced, Swedish, put-it-together-yourself furniture!
He picked out his favorite chair.
Velvet furniture brings out the animal in anyone.
Andrew - coming out of the closet...or being put in it.
Chandelier - $79
Jen's Boobs - $MONEY$
Carry our things, boy! Next stop: Victoria Gardens.
Jen found a bra bigger than her's! What does the tag say? 42DDD..!!
What a boyfriend looks like after 5 1/2 hours of shopping.

So the three of us finally go back to the Leach abode to meet with Randal and Brandon. After debating what to do about food, we decided to throw back a few shots of finely distilled liquor and make our way to In-N-Out. I broke down and ate a grilled cheese (which violently made its way out of my body a few hours later).
In-N-Out (also an activity Jen & Randal partake in a few nights a week)

We saw the new X-Men/Wolverine movie. Pretty entertaining, I must say. The special effects were kind of a let down though. Afterwards the boys decided to eat the rest of the Reese's Pieces that were left over from the movie.

I think they spent a good 25 minutes doing this.
Parting ways...boooo!Back home - Fin!

Jen's Bridal Shower

Last Sunday was Jen's Bridal Shower! It was a nice little Sunday afternoon filled with champagne, snacks, presents and, of course, ladies!
The Beautiful BrideGot the party started w/some of this sparkling stuff!
20 questions about the bride & groom (I won w/a score of 17...NBD.)Randal came! He brought flowers for Jen...what a great fiance!
Present time!! Apparently, everyone thinks Jen and Randal are heavy drinkers - they got like 4 or 5 different wine sets and a margarita set. But as you can see, Randal is VERY excited about the margs.CAKE. This vanilla-chocolate creation with strawberry cream was from The Local Baker in Upland. Mmm..Delicious! I'm so sad that my now-vegan body wasn't able to stomach it, otherwise I'd have more, more and MORE!Practicing.Yum yum!She is going to be the most beautiful bride!I love her!

Jury Duty

I am sitting at the Criminal Justice Center in Downtown LA. It's pretty cool that they offer free wi-fi here. The shitty thing is...they blocked almost every website I was excited about using. And I'm not just complaining about MySpace or the FB, I'm talking about denying me access to UrbanOutfitters.com, Hulu, and my banking sites. I suppose they do this for their bandwidth's sake and for our security's sake. But really though...no online games? Any site with Tetris, Bejeweled, Zuma...ACCESS DENIED!

Oh shit...! The tutorial video is about to start! I gotta pay attention.

NOT.

Ugh..FML. I hate the LA County court system.

Strange thing though: On my way here this morning, I felt like whatever LA-based-nostolgia I had melted away and I just kind of took it all in. And it felt nice. Yeah, weird. Despite the traffic, the smog, the people and noise...I was actually glad to be in this city. I guess living back out here won't be all that bad......we'll see how long I go before I say otherwise.

A day at USC!

Today was the Admitted Students Reception at USC. We went to check out the campus and to hear more about the program...just to see exactly where our thousands of dollars are going. The Health Sciences Campus is very close to home! It was only about a 25 min commute via surface streets from my parents' house. This is where I will be spending my days this summer...makes me kinda nervous to dive head-first into the program. But I suppose there's no other way to do it *shrugs*
The main campus is a little farther away. It's kind of weird to think that this school sits in the middle of LA...doesn't really feel like Southern California to me when I look at the architecture. I guess that's nice.
We had lunch here! Everyone got chicken breast topped with a cream sauce, mashed potatoes, asparagus and baby carrots. The vegetarians got cheese enchiladas...yippee..!

I wish I had a chance to snap a few pictures of the sweet marching band that came in after lunch. They played the fight song...really gave the reception a sense of occasion (and woke my dad up because he was dozing off as the faculty spoke). I'm really glad I attended the reception. I think today really helped me not only reaffirm my career choice, but also be really excited about the different ways I can implement Occupational Therapy and maybe even contribute to Occupational Science.

This is definitely the right thing. I feel it.
